Elder Programs
Our Elder Program seeks to improve the well-being of immigrants and refugees aged 55 and older. VSS provides one-on-one support to access health and social support resources. We also offer recreational and social opportunities to decrease the isolation and depression that many elders experience due to their diminished social status as new Americans, often without advanced English language skills.
Programming includes topics elders identify, such as digital learning, health care, nutrition, exercise, and financial security. These initiatives teach elders how to be lifelong learners by encouraging elders to improve their English and to expand their knowledge in many important topic areas. Weekly events celebrate holidays, and provide an opportunity to listen to or provide music -- our karaoke events are always fun! Weekly luncheons promote social interactions.
